The SIModified.com Modified Showdown
125 opens the Inaugural ASCORS Irwindale Showdown this week! - By Charli Brown




Irwindale, CA - SIModified.com and ASCORS will host the Inaugural SIModified.com/ASCORS Irwindale Showdown this week at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.

At press time, forty-eight SK Modifieds are entered in the Modified Showdown 125 portion of the event and four qualifying heats will be held on Wednesday night, January 14th to set the majority of the grid for the feature event.

Following the qualifying heats, a 50 lap B-Feature will be held for non-qualified cars. Twenty-eight starting spots are up for grabs for the SIModified.com Modified Showdown 125.

Defending True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series Overall champion Zach Truesdail leads the contingent of SIModified competitors including Jeff Marble, Chuck Darling, JD Laird, Charli Brown and Todd Taylor. 2008 Whelen Modified Online Tour champion Richie Coy has withdrawn his entry due to a prior commitment.

Over on the ASCORS side, ASCORS Grand National drivers Frankie Stickley and Jordan Hightower lead the list of drivers entered in the Modified Showdown 125 as well as Jason Katerberg and Jordan McGregor.

As an added bonus, 2008 Whelen Southern Modified Tour champion Brian Loftin will attempt to qualify for his very first SIModified.com event aboard a replica of his L&R Transmissions, QMF Metal and Software Solutions #23 Modified. Two-time New York State and Chemung Speedrome SST Modified champion Tony Hanbury has also entered in the event, as well as Modified drivers Zach Brewer and Jason Trinchere.

Eighteen drivers will attempt to compete in both the Modified Showdown 125 and the 250 lap ASCORS Late Model Showdown.
