Richard Davidowitz wins the SIModified.com Modified Showdown 125!
 - By Charli Brown

Holbrook, New York's Richard Davidowitz led 98 of the race's 125 laps to win the Inaugural SIModified.com Modified Showdown 125 at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Thursday night.

Irwindale, CA - With fifty drivers filing entries for twenty eight starting spots and four exciting qualifying heat races to set the starting field, Holbrook, New York's Richard Davidowitz came out on top as he won the Inaugural SIModified.com Modified Showdown 125 at the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale California, Thursday night.

2008 SIModified.com Rookie of the Year Bobby Ambroceo set fast time to win the Zone15.com Pole Award with a lap time of 17.942 seconds at 105.540-Miles Per Hour. The entire starting field was just a tick over a second apart after qualifying was complete.

"I had a blast racing here tonight with everybody!" exclaimed the excited winner. "There was so much room to race guys and having three different grooves to race on had to be exciting to watch from the stands. Now, we just need to make sure our Late Model is just as fast as this thing was and we'll have a shot to sweep both races."

Davidowitz led 98 of the race's 125 laps and also set the fastest lap of the race at a 17.863 seconds which was faster than pole winner Bobby Ambroceo's time by just seventy-nine thousandths of a second.

"The track really started to come in about halfway through the race,” explained Davidowitz. "I could see a lot of guys sticking to the bottom, but getting around lapped cars in the middle and top grooves wasn't a problem. I think you'll see a lot of the same three and four wide racing tomorrow night."

Tomorrow night, that ASCORS Late Model Series begins their 2009 pre-season with the ASCORS Late Model Showdown 250 Qualifying.

Fifty-eight Late Models have entered the event with twelve of the drivers from the SIModified.com Modified Showdown 125 looking to pull double duty and earn their way in through the four qualifying heat races.

The first qualifying heat will start at 8 PM EST with a 15-minute practice. Fields will be set by random draw and the top six finishers will transfer into the ASCORS Late Model Showdown 250, Saturday night.

Full race results and post race reports will be posted at:
