January 23rd, 2009 One Division, One Champion. SIModified.com announces the 2009 Whelen Modified Online Tour. - By Charli Brown

Charlotte, NC - The New Year brings a new format to the SIModified Online Racing Leagues.
The
Whelen Modified Online Tour will be the one and only division hosted by
SIModified.com in 2009 and the schedule will pay respect to many of the
Whelen Modified Tour's tracks that the series has visited throughout
its 25-year history.
The
Whelen Modified Online Tour will begin
March 12th, 2009 at the Caraway Speedway and several Whelen Modified
drivers will be taking part in the 2009 season. Among those are 2008
Whelen "Made in America" 300 Champion Ryan Preece, as well as two-time
Chemung Speedrome champion and New York State Modified champion Tony
Hanbury. Another modified champion who hopes to make a couple starts
this year is newly crowned True Value Modified Racing Series champion,
Chris Pasteryak. Whelen Southern Modified Tour driver Jason Trinchere
and
Riverhead Raceway Modified driver Gregg Shivers also have filed entries
for this year's league.
They'll face strong competition from
two-time Whelen Modified Online Tour Overall champion Richie Coy and
2008 True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series Overall champion, Zach
Truesdail.
"One of the things we've always been proud of
here at SIModified.com is the fact that actual modified drivers compete
in our league races" explained site owner Charli Brown. "There are
very few racing leagues online that give racers the opportunity to race
with the drivers they pay their hard earned money to see at their local
tracks.
Having guys like Tony Hanbury, Ryan Preece, Chris Pasteryak, Gregg
Shivers and Jason Trinchere involved makes the league races more
exciting for the guys who compete with us and also adds a sense of realism."
SIModified.com
league president Richie Coy echoed Brown's sentiment. "All of our
drivers who are racing with us this year are a great group of
guys,” explained Coy. "This year should be the biggest and the
best year the league has seen in its three year existence."
The
Whelen Modified Online Tour will consist of thirty events over the
course of the year. Several new rules and procedures will be introduced
to make the races closely resemble tour events.
“I think
this will be the toughest championship to win,” explained Richie
Coy. “In years past we had seasonal champions who were still
racing for an overall title. This year, there’s only one
championship to win.”
