Tony Hanbury wins the John Blewett III Memorial 100 at New Smyrna!
 - By Charli Brown

Owego, New York's Tony Hanbury took advantage of Joe Doiron's misfourtunes to win the John Blewett III Memorial 100 Wednesday night at the New Smyrna Speedway.

Samsula, FL -
Owego, New York's Tony Hanbury took advantage of several interesting events to win the John Blewett III Memorial 100 Wednesday night at the New Smyrna Speedway.

Berwick, Maine's Joe Doiron set fast time to win the NPGPro.com Pole Award with a lap time of 16.295 seconds at 110.463 Miles Per Hour. Justin Bonsignore was second quick with Tony Hanbury, Charli Brown and Richie Coy rounding out the top five qualifiers.

Doiron would jump out to the early lead while the leaders raced hard for the top five positons throughout the race's early stages and on lap 25 the first crazy event of the night took place.

Several of the lights around the speedway began to dim and go out as the cars were at racing speed. SIModified officials quiclkly threw the caution, then the red flag in order for track officials to remedy the problem.

But as the lights began to come back on, race leader Joe Doiron's engine began to overheat, ending his night in a disappointing geyser of steam and water.

Tony Hanbury inherited the lead as the field took the green flag on lap 27 with Charli Brown and Justin Bonsignore giving chase.

Raindrops began to fall over the speedway just past the KING Design halfway lap with several drivers pointing to the sky as they passed the flagstand.

Officials declared the race over on lap 55 with Tony Hanbury being awarded the win over Charli Brown, Justin Bonsignore, Dennis Frates and Richie Coy. Sixth through tenth were newcomer AJ Griffin, Rick Dutra, Zach Truesdail and JD Laird.

Friday night will be the final pre-season event for the "Tour-Type" Modifieds as the second annual Richie Evans Memorial 100 will take the final green flag of Speedweeks 2009.

Practice will begin shortly after 8 PM with NPGPro.com Pole Qualifying taking the green flag at 8:30 PM. Can Tony Hanbury sweep both events of the week? or will we see another new face in Victory Lane?

Full Results will be posted in the KING Design Results Ticker after Friday night's event.
