February 24th, 2009 SIModified.com tests at "The World's Fastest Half Mile!" - By Charli Brown
SIModified.com's
resident 3D expert Dan Nisbet was the first car on the track Tuesday
morning testing his brand new Chevrolet Cobalt bodied modified in
preparation for the Whelen Modified Online Tour's first ever vist to
Bristol Motor Speedway, later this spring.
Bristol, TN - Tuesday
morning, several Whelen Modified Tour teams will roll into the Bristol
Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee for a historic Hoosier tire test
in preparation for their first ever race there later this spring.
Here
at SIModified.com, the 2009 Whelen Modified Online Tour will also visit
the Bristol Motor Speedway during the same week as the actual race for
a 100-lap event.
While fans of the modifieds are eagerly
awaiting this exciting event, resident 3D expert and part-time
SIModified competitor Dan Nisbet was the very first car to tackle the
"World's Fastest Half Mile" in his brand new Chevrolet Cobalt bodied
modified.
"Man, this place is fast!" he exclaimed after his first
flying laps around the speedway. "The corner speeds are what really
took my breath away and I'm sure the guys will be flying around here
when it comes to the actual race weekend."
Nisbet's
best laps around the speedway were in the low 15-second bracket (or
close to an average of 120 Miles Per Hour) on new tires.
SIModified.com will be using the latest version of the Bristol Motor Speedway edited by www.SAFERBarrierProject.com
"JRock does a fantastic job updating the Sprint Cup Series
tracks to current standards and his work on the Martinsville Night
track is a great example of why we have such faith in him" explained
SIModified.com site owner, Charli Brown. "We asked him to produce that
track in a relatively small time frame and he worked with ASTG to bring
the grip levels to where we needed them to be for our modified cars" he added.
"This
new, updated version of Bristol Motor Speedway already has a ton of
grip built into it and we'll wait to see how fast the real cars go at
the test later today before we see how far off we are."
The
Whelen Modified Tour will race at the Bristol Motor Speedway on
Wednesday, August 19th, 2009. For more information on the Whelen
Modified 150 at Bristol, click over to www.BristolMotorSpeedway.com
