Charli Brown wins in dominating fashion at the Southern National 150!
- SIModified PR

Charlotte, North Carolina's Charli Brown led every lap from the pole at the Southern National Raceway Park, Wednesday night.

Kenly, NC - Charli Brown dominated the Southern National 150 at the Southern National Raceway Park, Wednesday night.

He started off the night by setting fast time to win the NPGPro.com Pole Award with a lap time of 13.809 seconds at 104.279 Miles Per Hour. AJ Griffin was second fastest, followed by Rex Hoyle, Keith Joseph and Scott Bryant.

At the drop of the green flag, Charli Brown jumped out front to lead over AJ Griffin, Rex Hoyle, Keith Joseph and Scott Bryant.

AJ Griffin pressured Charli Brown for the race lead until he lost the handle on his Dave's Auto Sales Chevrolet and made hard contact with the blunt end of the front stretch wall in turn four to bring out the race's first caution at lap 15.

Charli Brown held off a determined Rex Hoyle for the next 16 laps until turn four grabbed it's next victim in Rick Underwood. Underwood luckily drove away without any contact with the wall and rejoined at the tail of the field for the race's third restart at lap 37.

Brown continued to lead the next 38 laps over Rex Hoyle to the KING Design Halfway leader Award at lap 75 until Scott Bryant grenaded a motor while running third in his Preston's Egg Farm Chevrolet to bring out the race's third caution.

This brought all the leaders to pit road for pit stops with Charli Brown getting in and out first in front of Rex Hoyle, Mike Gaughan, Keith Joseph and Doug Beaulieu. Sixth through tenth were Mike House, Rich Warden, Wayne Wildermuth, AJ Griffin and Rick Underwood.

The race restarted at lap 81 with Charli Brown again asserting himself as the race's dominant car with Rex Hoyle right behind. Doug Beaulieu moved past Keith Joseph for the fourth spot just before the race's fourth caution flew for Wayne Wildermuth in turn two on lap 85.

The race's fourth restart came at lap 91 with Charli Brown continuing to lead over Rex Hoyle, Mike Gaughan, Doug Beaulieu and Mike House. Rex Hoyle began applying heavier pressure to the back of Charli Brown's NOS Energy Drink machine as they clicked off lap 100. Lapped traffic closed the gap several times as the two leaders raced nose to tail.

The final 50 laps went caution-free with Charli Brown flashing under the double Sunoco checkered flags to win over Rex Hoyle by just under a car length. Doug Beaulieu finished third with Mike House and Mike Gaughan rounding out the top five. Sixth through tenth were Keith Joseph, Rich Warden, AJ Griffin, Rick Underwood and Wayne Wildermuth.

The race was slowed by only 4 cautions for 20 laps and there were no lead changes. Scott Bryant is the new Whelen Modified Winter Tour point leader as he holds a slim 3 point lead over Mike House, Richie Coy and AJ Griffin.

Next Week, the Whelen Modified Winter Tour makes it's first appearance in Canada for the Canada's Crown Jewel 125 at the Cayuga Speedway.

Doug Beaulieu breaks through for his first win at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale!
- By Charli Brown

Woonsocket, Rhode Island's Doug Beaulieu finally broke through for his first Whelen Modified win at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Wednesday night.

Irwindale, CA - Woonsocket, Rhode Island's Doug Beaulieu found himself in the right place at the right time as he dodged a spinning Richie Coy in the final turn and went on to win the King Taco 150 at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Wednesday night.

Timmy "The Natural" Solomito set fast time to win the NPGPro.com Pole Award with a lap time of 15.865 seconds at 119.357 Miles Per Hour. AJ Griffin was second fastest, followed by Doug Beaulieu, Mike House and Keith Joseph.

Timmy Solomito and AJ Griffin traded the lead back and forth through the race's early stages until Richie Coy took command on lap 35.

Richie Coy led to the KING Design Halfway Leader Award at lap 75 over Charli Brown, Scott Bryant, Timmy Solomito and AJ Griffin.

AJ Griffin used a two tire strategy and took the lead during the race's second round of pit stops and led over Richie Coy, Doug Beaulieu, Scott Bryant and Charli Brown at lap 114.

After the restart, it took Richie Coy just two laps to re-take the lead as he held off AJ Griffin, Scott Bryant, Mike House and Wayne Wildermuth to the race's final caution at lap 145 which set up a Green White, Checkered finish.

AJ Griffin made a last lap, last ditch effort for the lead and made contact with Richie Coy, sending the leader into a spin coming off turn four. As the double Sunoco checkered flags waved, the race was awarded to third place driver Doug Beaulieu, who won over Mike House, Wayne Wildermuth, Richie Coy and AJ Griffin, who was penalized for contact with the leader.

The race saw 20 lead changes among 6 different drivers and was slowed by 7 caution flags for 33 laps.

Next week, the Whelen Modified Winter Tour heads to the Southern National Raceway Park in Kenly, North Carolina for the Southern National 150.
