Davidowitz dodges another bullet as JD Laird sets fast time on Wednesday. - by Charli Brown
JD Laird posted the third
fastest time of the week in Jennerstown 350 qualifying Wednesday night.
Jennerstown, PA - Normally,
the fast and powerful Whelen modifieds are known for being a division
that races up and down the east coast from Maine to Florida.
But
on Wednesday night, Alta Loma, California's JD Laird set the fast time
of the evening with a 18.534 second lap at 101.392 MPH to post the
third fastest time of the week bumping Justin Trombley to fourth and
Jay Neels to fifth.
Neels made his much anticipated second
qualifying run tonight, but fell seven thousandths of a second
slower than his posted time from Tuesday night, and will stand on the
faster of the two laps for fifth position.
2007 Whelen Modified
Online Tour Champion Richie Coy made his second qualifying attempt
tonight, but fell four thousandths of a second slower than his posted
time from Tuesday night and will hold on to the ninth fastest time
of the week, with three days left to go.
As usual with such a
large field of drivers entered into the event, Wednesday night turned
into "Bump Day" as the twenty fastest cars filled those positions with
three drivers now looking in from outside the top 20.
Night
number four of qualifying will begin at 8 PM Thursday for drivers who have not used their two qualifying attempts.
Richard Davidowitz continues to hold on to the provisional pole, but
with three days left in qualifying and several more drivers
yet to post a time, he still has several bullets to dodge as
drivers try to time their way into the Jennerstown 350.
