Timmy Solomito wins night number two at New Smyrna! - by Charli Brown


Timmy Solomito works the high banks at New Smyrna Speedway on his way to winning Tuesday night.

Samsula, FL - When you talk about talented drivers who have been close to victory lane but just haven't been able to seal the deal, Timmy Solomito quickly comes to mind.

The sixteen year old driver from historic Islip, New York set fast time and started from the pole for Tuesday night's 50 lap feature with a 16.223 second lap at 110.953 MPH over the always quick Richard Davidowitz.

Solomito would lose the lead at the start but would gain it back on an early lap ten restart then would hold off an aggressive late race charge by PJ Stergios.

Stergios would come home second followed by Charli Brown, Richard Davidowitz and Joe Doiron.

Sixth through tenth were Turkey Derby winner Joshua Guiher, Chris O'Shell, Shawn Breitzman, Richie Coy and Joe Doucette.

With his win tonight, Timmy Solomito takes over the SIModified.com New Smyrna Speedweek point lead by three points over PJ Stergios, Chris O'Shell, Charli Brown and Joe Doiron.

Night number three will be the final night drivers will be able to use the driver assistance functions in the sim, which will prepare them for the higher divisions in the SIModified.com Online Racing Leagues.

Monday night's winner Justin Trombley had other commitments and could not make Tuesday night's event, but still holds the Speedweek track qualifying record with a 16.195 second lap at 111.145 MPH.
