Richard Davidowitz becomes the third different driver to win at New Smyrna! - by Charli Brown

Richard Davidowitz dives into turn one on his way to winning the "John Blewett III Memorial 50" Wednesday night.

Samsula, FLSometimes, persistance pays off.

Tonight, Richard Davidowitz persevered and won the John Blewett III Memorial 50 at New Smyrna Speedway. Davidowitz led all 50 laps from his outside pole starting positon and held off another late race charge from PJ Stergios who came home second for the second night in a row.

At first, it was begining to feel like "Groundhog Day" when Timmy Solomito scored his second consecutive pole position and re-wrote the Speedweek track qualifying record with a lap time of 16.149 seconds at 111.462 MPH over second quick Davidowitz.

But when the call came to line the cars up on the grid for the feature event, Solomito's car was up on jack stands in his pit with transmission trouble.

This would hand the Speedweek point lead to PJ Stergios who finished second behind Davidowitz with Zach Truesdail coming home third, Richie Coy fourth and Chris Rogers fifth.

Sixth through tenth were Jim Windrow, David Hampton, Michael Pares, Jr., Joe Doiron and Tony Hanbury. Solomito wasn't the only driver to have trouble tonight as Chris O'Shell, Joshua Guiher, Shawn Breitzman and Charli Brown all had troubles of their own during Wednesday night's event.

PJ Stergios holds a 30 point lead on Richard Davidowitz with Joe Doiron third, Timmy Solomito drops back to fourth with Charli Brown rounding out the top five.
