Timmy Solomito becomes the first repeat winner at New Smyrna! - by Charli Brown
Timmy Solomito bounced back from his troubles on Wednesday night to become the first repeat winner in New Smyrna this week.
Samsula, FL - Islip,
New York's Timmy Solomito continues to show his preseason speed by
becoming the first repeat winner in the SIModified.com New Smyrna
Speedweek.
Holbrook, New York's Richard Davidowitz set fast time
on Thursday night and set the new qualifying track record with a lap
time of 16.166 seconds at 111.344 MPH, but in a reversal of Tuesday and
Wednesday night's front row, Timmy Solomito would come home second
quick and start from the outside pole.
Solomito would beat
Davidowitz to turn one on the start and would never look back to lead
all fifty laps in his Nicolock Pavers Troyer Corvette. Richard
Davidowitz would come home second followed by current point leader PJ
Stergios, Joe Doiron and Chris O'Shell.
Sixth through tenth were Charles Buchanan, Michael Pares, Jr., Andy Ticco, Keith Joseph and Rick Dutra.

Stergios continues to hold down the Speedweek point lead by 25 points
with only two races to go over Timmy Solomito, Richard Davidowitz, Joe
Doiron, and Chris O'Shell.
Friday night is the Richie Evans
Memorial 100. Tire wear has been an issue all week on the fresh asphalt
and pit strategy will come into play.
Can Timmy Solomito make it
three in a row? Or will we see another new face in Victory Lane?
Practice starts at 9 PM with qualifying beginning shortly thereafter.
