Zach Truesdail wins the Hooters 100! - By Charli Brown
Zach Truesdail used a tire management strategy to win the Hooters 100 Thursday night at the Myrtle Beach Speedway.
Myrtle Beach, SC - Owego,
New York's Zach Truesdail won the Hooters 100 Thursday night with one
of the most exciting finishes in the SIModified.com Online Racing
League's history going on in his rear view mirror.
Timmy
Solomito won the Dart Heads Pole Award with a lap time of 19.368
seconds at 100 MPH. Richard Davidowitz was second quick and only lost
the pole by .027 of a second.
Solomito and Davidowitz would exchange the lead in the early stages before Timmy Solomito led to the KING Design Halfway lap.
As
is always the case at Myrtle Beach, tire wear would come into play and
pit stop strategy was the key to winning on Thursday night.
Zach
Truesdail and team mate Tony Hanbury would pit for fresh tires on lap
60, with Solomito and Davidowitz closely behind. Chris Forster would
inherit the lead by staying out, but could not hold off the faster cars
with fresher tires as the race's laps wound down.
Timmy Solomito
would use the outside groove on lap 75 to pass Chris Forster and open up a
lead while Zach Truesdail would make his move only 10 laps later, diving
underneath the second place car as the two raced to turn one.
It
would only take Truesdail four more laps to reel in the slowly fading
Solomito and he made his bid for the lead using the same move he used
on Chris Forster heading into turn one on lap 91.
Tony Hanbury
was closely behind Chris Forster and was racing Keith Joseph for the
third position. As the two raced off turn four coming to the checkered
flag, Joseph made slight contact with the left rear nerf bar of Hanbury's Coors
Light machine and chaos ensued as the field tried to navigate the
incident and race to the checkered flag.
Zach Truesdail would lead
the rest of the way to win over Chris Forster, Chris Rogers, Dennis
Frates and Tony Hanbury. Sixth through tenth were Rick Dutra, Keith
Joseph, Wayne Wildermuth, Jim Rasmussen and Timmy Solomito.
Next
week, the True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series heads to Motor Mile
Speedway in Radford, Virginia for the Shelor.com Motor Mile 100.

Kenly, NC - JD
Laird backed up his victory from last week at Caraway Speedway with
another dominating performance in the "Night of Modifieds" 100 at
Southern National Raceway Park, Wednesday night.
Richie Coy won
the Coors Light Pole Award with a lap time of 15.396 seconds at 93.531
MPH and would lead the field to the green flag.
Coy would only lead the first lap before Laird made his move as the two raced into turn one and down the backstretch.
JD Laird would lead the rest of the way in dominating fashion to win over Joshua Guiher, Michael Pares, Jr. and Richie Coy.
This
week, the Whelen Modified Online Tour heads to the historic
Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, SC for the Kevin Whitaker
Chevrolet 150.
JD Laird leads the Whelen Modified Online Tour
point standings by 20 points over Richie Coy, Joshua Guiher, Michael

Jim Windrow beat the rain and the rest of the competitors to win Tuesday night at Thompson International Speedway.
Thompson, CT - After
a week off to regroup and prepare for the rest of the season, the

Tuesday night.

Earthscapes.cc Pole Award with a lap time of 21.178 seconds at 106.242
MPH and would lead the field to the green flag under threatening skies.

would set the early pace and just after the Mends Image Halway lap, the
skies finally opened up and halted the rest of the event.
Since
the race had past the halfway point, the event was official and Jim
Windrow would be declared the winner over Kevin Brown, Bobby Ambroceo,
Ed Battaglia and Phil Jacques. Steven Dickey won the Sunoco Hard
