Richard Davidowitz wins the Troyer Farms 100 at Lake Erie! - By Charli Brown
Richard Davidowitz made it three in a row at the Troyer Farms 100 at the Lake Erie Speedway, Thursday night.
Erie, PA - Richard Davidowitz won his third straight event of the 2008 True Value/Dart Machinery
Modified Series Thursday night in the Troyer Farms 100 at the Lake Erie Speedway.
Davidowitz set fast time and won the Dart Heads Pole Award with a lap time of 16.897 seconds at 85.222 MPH.
At
the drop of the green flag, Davidowitz quickly went to the high groove
of the compound banked race track and led the race's early stages,
before giving it up during the race's second caution on lap 33 for a
two car incident involving Tom Meade and Keith Joseph in turn one.
As
Davidowitz hit pit road, Zach Truesdail elected to stay out for the
five bonus points before pitting himself, giving the lead to Rich
Warden. Davidowitz would race Warden into turn one and take the lead
back after the lap 39 restart.
At the KING Design Halfway lap,
Davidowitz continued to show the way ahead of Chris Forster, Tony
Hanbury, Jeff Rogers and Chris Rogers.
Davidowitz would again
lose the lead on a lap 67 restart as the second place car of Chris
Forster tried unsuccessfully to take the lead and turns one and two and
made contact with the leader, sending Davidowitz into a spin.
Forster
would heed the penalty and pass through pit road, while Davidowitz took
another set of fresh tires. This would hand the lead to Tony Hanbury,
followed by Jeff Rogers, Chris Rogers, Keith Joseph and Dennis Frates
for the lap 73 restart.
Hanbury would lead to turn one, but
wouldn't make it out of turn two before spinning his Coors Light, Owego
Sanitation Chevrolet out of the lead in front of the entire field. As
Hanbury tried to save his spinning car, he made contact with Jeff
Rogers who was turned up into the outside wall collecting Keith Joseph
and Zach Truesdail.
Davidowitz had carved his way through the
carnage and took the lead for the final time with a daring outside pass
on leader Chris Rogers on lap 82.
At the double checkered flags,
Richard Davidowitz took home his third straight victory of the 2008
True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series over Chris Forster, Zach
Truesdail, Chris Rogers and Dennis Frates. Sixth through tenth were
Keith Joseph, Tony Hanbury, Rich Warden, Rick Dutra and Jeff Rogers.
This
week, the True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series heads to the
historic Langhorne Speedway in Langhorne, Pennsylvania for the first
round of the Race of Champions Series. Drivers from all of the
SIModified.com Online Racing Leagues will converge on Langhorne for a
star studded 100 lap event.

Richie Coy wins The Icebreaker 150 at Thompson! - By Charli Brown
Richie
Coy won his second Whelen Modified Online Tour event at the Icebreaker 150 at
the Thompson International Speedway, Wednesday night.
Thompson, CT - Haskell,
New Jersey's Richie Coy won his second Whelen Modified Online Tour
event of 2008 in the Icebreaker 150 at the Thompson International
Speedway, Wednesday night.
Saginaw, Michigan's Chuck Darling
debuted a brand new Howe Racing Enterpsies Pontiac and quickly set the
pace to win the Coors Light Pole Award with a lap time of 20.146
seconds at 111.685 MPH.
Current
point leader JD Laird quickly jumped out to the lead after taking
the green flag and led to the first caution on Lap 54 for a two car
incident involving Michael Pares, Jr. and Jeff Marble.
Under
this caution, the first round of pit stops took place with all the
leaders coming in for fresh tires and Sunoco Racing Fuel. Laird's crew
would get him out first and he'd continue to hold the lead to the lap
60 restart.
JD Laird continued to dominate the race to the Mends
Image Halfway Leader lap on lap 75 over Chuck Darling, Richie Coy,
Chris Rogers and Rick Dutra.
The race's second and final caution
would fly on lap 100 for newcomer Jeff Rogers spinning his Rooms
Unlimited Cavalier out of eighth spot in turn four.
Wholesale
pit stops again took place among the leaders with JD Laird leading the
race across the stripe on pit road. The third place car of Chuck
Darling stopped long in his pit stall, pinching Laird in his box. As
Richie Coy's team dropped the jack to send their driver out, JD
Laird backed his Pittsburg Paints machine into the front of Coy's
Stewart's Root Beer Ford, drove around Darling's Pontiac and won the
race off pit road. Chuck Darling encountered transmission trouble and
retired from the event after running in the top three all night.
Coy
showed his disgust with Laird as the two came across the line to line
up behind the Chevrolet pace car and the two exchanged rubs on each
other's nerf bars. SIModified officials quickly dissolved the
disagreement and aligned the field according to how they came off pit
road.
The race's final restart came on lap 106. Coy made his bid
for the lead as the two came to the green flag and raced to turn one,
but JD Laird threw an illegal block which resulted in a black flag due
to the timing and severity of his actions.
Laird would lose two
laps heeding the penalty during his drive through, while Richie Coy
would lead the rest of the way to the double checkered flags over Jeff
Marble, Chris Rogers, Michael Pares, Jr. and Rick Dutra. A disappointed
JD Laird come home sixth with Jeff Rogers, Chuck Darling and Keith
Joseph rounding out the top nine.
This week, the Whelen Modified Online Tour heads to the Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, North Carolina for the DMC Auto Exchange 150.
With
his win at Thompson this week, Richie Coy takes over the Whelen
Modified Online Tour point lead, leading by ten points over JD Laird
and Joshua Guiher.

Bobby Ambroceo leads wire to wire, wins his first at Stafford Springs! - By Charli Brown
Bobby
Ambroceo led all 50 laps en route to his first win of the year Tuesday
night in the CarQuest Auto Parts 50 at Stafford Motor
Speedway.
Stafford Springs, CT - Walpole,
Massachusettes' Bobby Ambroceo won his first feature in the Sunoco
SK/SST Modified Series presented by NPGPro.com, Tuesday night at the
Stafford Motor Speedway.
Ambroceo set the pace early in the
evening and won the Earthscapes.cc Pole Award with a lap time of 20.209
seconds at 89.069 MPH.
He'd also take home the Mends Image
Halfway Leader Award while holding off a steady challenge from the
second place car of Doug Woolley since the drop of the green flag.
Woolley's
luck on the other hand, wasn't as good. As the leaders took the "twin
popsicle sticks" to come to two laps to go, Third place Scott Aldrich
made a move under Wolley for second as the two raced to turn one.
Wolley and Aldrich would have contact and initiate a five car melee
taking the two drivers out of contention.
At the double
checkered flags, Bobby Ambroceo took down the win over Phil Jacques,
Steve Rogers, Steve Rohner, Jr. and Rick Underwood.
This week, the Sunoco SK/SST Modified Series presented by
NPGPro.com returns to the Thompson International Speedway in Thompson, Connecticut for another 50 lap event.
