Richard Davidowitz wins the Race of Champions 100 at Langhorne! - By Charli Brown
Richard
Davidowitz made some daring late race moves in traffic to win the Race
of Champions 100 at Langhorne Speedway, Thursday night.
Langhorne, PA - Richard Davidowitz is on a hot streak. After winning the
three previous True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series races in the
regular Spring Season, all eyes were on the Hooters/Harley Davidson
machine as the SIModified.com Online Racing Leagues' second visit to
the historic Langhorne Speedway opened the 2008 Race of Champions
Series.
Defending
Langhorne Race of Champions winner Charli Brown won the Dart Heads Pole Award and re-wrote the Langhorne Track
Record with a lap time of 24.443 seconds at 147.281 MPH. The 2007
Whelen Modified Online Tour champion Richie Coy would qualify his
Stewart's Root Beer Ford on the outside pole and two of the leagues'
defending series champions led the field to the green flag.
The
race's first caution came on lap 13 as Chris Rogers would get up in the
marbles just past the start/finish line and spin his WPW Growers
machine and come to a rest against the turn one armco barrier.
Richard Davidowitz and
Rich Warden would both stay out to lead a lap for bonus points as
Richie Coy won the race off pit road. Warden led the field to the lap
17 restart over Coy, Tom Meade, Tony Hanbury and Zach Truesdail.
Tom
Meade had just worked his way to the outside of Rich Warden and Richie
Coy for the race lead when the second caution came on lap 18 for Chris Forster and
Keith Joseph getting together in turn four.
Meade continued to hold the lead for the next 30 laps before
Richard Davidowitz used lapped traffic to his advantage and took the
top spot when rain began to fall over the speedway, bringing out
the race's third caution just past the KING Design Halfway Award
on lap 53.
The
race's second half began to show more intensity as Tom Meade and Charli
Brown split Davidowitz's car three wide as the trio raced off turn two
on lap 62 with Meade reclaiming the lead until the fourth
caution at lap 68 for Rich Warden spinning in turn two.
The
race
resumed on lap 78 with Charli Brown making a move to Chris Forster's outside
for the lead as the two raced to turn one but Tony Hanbury would fall victim to the slippery high groove and spin his
Coors Light, Owego Sanitation Chevrolet in turn one for the race's
sixth caution on lap 81.
Forster continued to stay out and led the field to
the lap 86 restart over Chris Rogers, Ryan Curran and Rich Warden.
Charli Brown was fifth after wining the race off pit road and everyone
behind him was on fresh tires. At the drop of the green flag, the fresh
rubber immediately began to show dividends as Brown and Richard
Davidowitz dove to the inside of Warden and Curran and set off after
the second place car of Chris Rogers.
Rogers was making his own
bid under Forster for the lead as the two passed the start/finish line
the following lap, but Brown was already there and the two made contact
racing to turn one to bring out the race's seventh caution on lap 87.
Forster
led to the lap 91 restart, but yielded the low lane to Brown,
Davidowitz and Coy as the race entered it's final stages. Brown and
Davidowitz waged a wheel to wheel, side by side war for the lead for
the next four laps until Brown finally took command on lap 95.
Davidowitz
dropped back, then went to the high lane and took the lead away from
Brown on the following lap and led to the race's final caution at lap
98 for Tom Meade and Rick Dutra getting together in turn two.
The
final round of pit stops showed several different degrees of strategy
as Brown and Davidowitz took four tires, while Coy took two. Most of
the drivers behind the leaders had stayed out hoping for an extended
caution including Keith Joseph, who stayed out to inherit the lead.
As
the field came off turn four for the final restart, drivers used every
lane available to improve their positon to contend for the win.
Davidowitz's four tire decision immediately paid off as he threaded the
needle through traffic and made some daring three wide moves up the
middle to work his way back into the lead in just two laps!
Brown
on the other hand, worked the high lane and folllowed Richie Coy who
was racing Zach Truesdail for the second spot. But as the pack came off
turn four to the final caution flag, Jeff Marble got into Keith Joseph
(who was racing Truesdail for fourth) and caused a four car melee that
also included Dennis Frates as the cars spun and crashed across the
start/finish line.
Davidowitz would come home the winner,
followed by Richie Coy and Charli Brown. Zach Truesdail held on for
fourth followed by Keith Joseph. Steve Rohner, Jr. finished sixth and
earned the Sunoco "Rookie of the Race" Award with Tony Hanbury, Jeff
Marble, Chris Forster and Chris Rogers rounding out the top ten.
This
week, the True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series heads to the
Lonesome Pine Speedway in Coeburn, Virginia for the Little Trees 100.

Richie Coy dominates the DMC Auto Exchange 150 at Ace Speedway! - By Charli Brown
Richie
Coy took home another win on the Whelen Modified Online Tour Wednesday
night in the DMC Auto Exchange 150 at Ace Speedway.
Altamahaw, NC - Defending
Whelen Modified Online Tour champion Richie Coy dominated the DMC Auto
Exchange 150 Wednesday night at the Ace Speedway.
Coy won the Coors Light Pole Award with a lap time of 15.739 seconds at 91.492 mph and led the field to the green flag.
The
race's first caution came early on lap 11 for Rick Dutra spinning his
Francis Farm sponsored machine in turn four. Dutra pulled away without
any damage and rejoined at the rear of the field.
Coy led the
field to the lap 17 restart over Jeff Marble, Chris Rogers, Chris
Forster and Michael Pares, Jr. but the race would only go another two
laps before Chris Forster spun his XtraMart machine off turn four while
racing Rogers for the third spot.
Keith Joseph brought out the
third caution of night when he spun his Thompson Center sponsored
machine in turn four on lap 28. Rick Dutra and Jeff Rogers took evasive
action to avoid hitting Joseph's car as the field came to the caution.
Five
laps later Coy again brought the field to the green flag on lap 33 as
he led over Jeff Marble, Chris Rogers, Michael Pares, Jr. and True
Value/Dart Modified Series invader Charli Brown.
The first long
run of the evening came on this restart as Brown went upstairs and
worked around Pares, Jr. for fourth as the two raced to turn one. Chris
Forster would suffer electrical problems 15 laps later and come to a
stop at the top of turns three and four to bring out the fourth caution
of the night on lap 48.
Richie Coy
continued to lead to the lap 54 restart and would hold the top spot
until the race's fifth caution came for Michael Pares, Jr. and Jeff
Rogers as the two raced for the fifth spot entering turn three on lap
71.
All of the leaders hit pit road for service under this
caution handing the lead to Keith Joseph as he led to the Mends
Image Halfway lap. Coy won the race off pit road followed by Charli
Brown, Jeff Marble, Keith Joseph and Jeff Rogers.
Brown
made his bid for the lead as he raced Coy to turn one on the lap 78
restart and apply heavy pressure to the back bumper of the Stewart's
Root Beer Ford. But as the laps clicked off, Brown's tires would begin
to fade and he would lose second to Jeff Marble before spinning in turn
three to bring out the race's sixth caution on lap 104.
This
would bring all the leaders to pit road for another round of pit stops
with Richie Coy still holding the lead over Jeff Marble, Michael Pares,
Jr., Charli Brown and Keith Joseph as the race restarted on lap 111.
Richie
Coy would lead the rest of the way as Charli Brown and Michael Pares,
Jr. raced wheel to wheel for second and third with Brown getting the
spot the checkered flags. Pares, Jr. came hom third followed by Jeff
Marble and Jeff Rogers. Sixth through tenth was Keith Joseph, Chris
Rogers, Chris Forster and Rick Dutra.
This week, the Whelen Modified Online Tour heads back to Caraway Speedway for a 100 lap event.

Bobby Ambroceo wins his second straight at Thompson! - By Charli Brown
Bobby Ambroceo took home his second straight win Tuesday night at the Thompson International Speedway in the XtraMart 50.
Thompson, CT - Bobby
Ambroceo became the second driver to win two races in the Sunoco SK/SST
Modified Series presented by NPGPro.com Tuesday night in the XtraMart
50 at the Thompson International Speedway.

For
the second straight week he led all 50 laps from the pole to win over
Ed Battaglia, Joe Szot, Phil Jacques and newcomer Jeremy Smith.
Doug
Wooley and Steve Rohner, Jr. were racing hard for the second postion
and as the two cars came off turn four, made contact and collected Jim
Windrow. This resulted in Rohner, jr. getting airbone and flipping
several times before coming to a rest on all four wheels on the front
stretch.
The crowd gave him a big cheer as he climbed out of his
car and waved to the fans to let them know he was fine. Woolley and
Windrow were scored at the tail of the lead lap for being involved in
the incident giving second to Ed Battaglia.
