Zach Truesdail wins the race and the Spring Season championship at Richmond! - By Charli Brown
Zach
Truesdail won the True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series Spring
Season championship in style by dominating the SIModified.com 100
Thursday night at the Richmond International Raceway in Richmond,
Virginia.
Richmond, VA - Owego,
New York's Zach Truesdail won his second Spring Season championship
Thursday night by dominating the SIModified.com 100 at the
Richmond International Raceway, Thursday night. Truesdail led 73 of the
race's 100 laps and becomes the first driver to win a championship in
two different divisions in the SIModified.com Online Racing Leagues.
Acushnet,
Massachusetts' Dennis Frates won his first Dart Heads Pole Award of the
year in his Lenny Boehler inspired "Ole Blue" machine with a lap time
of 22.782 seconds at 118.515 mph and would lead the field to final
green flag of the Spring Season.
Frates
led the first lap before giving way to outside pole sitter Chris
Forster, who made his move for the lead as they raced down the
backstretch and into turn three.
Current point leader and fourth
place starter Zach Truesdail followed Chris Forster past Dennis Frates
and into the second spot as they raced to turn one to complete lap 4
and made his move under Forster for the lead as the
two crossed the Start/Finish line side by side to complete lap 9.
The
first caution flag of the evening came out on lap 20 for a single car
spin involving Jeff Rogers
as he spun his Rooms Unlimited machine out of the third positon after
getting up into the turn four marbles. Rogers would drive away without
any damage as the leaders filed in
behind the Chevrolet pace car.
Zach
Truesdail led the first round of pit stops as Keith Joseph
was the only car to stay out to lead a lap for five bonus points.
Truesdail's team would get him off pit road first and he would lead
the field to the lap 27 restart over Chris Forster, Dennis
Frates, Rick Dutra and Mike House.
The second caution of the
evening came out on lap 34 for Tony Hanbury, who clipped the apron and spun while racing Rick
Dutra for the fourth position as they raced off turn four.
Under
this caution, race leader Zach Truesdail was the only car to stay out
while the rest of the field would pit for service. Chris Forster's
XtraMart team would get him out first in front of Dennis
Frates, Jeff Rogers and Rick Dutra as the field came to the restart on
lap 40.
Chris Forster's fresher tires immediately showed their advantage as he worked
his way under Zach Truesdail for the lead on lap 41 as the two raced
down the backstretch and into turn three.
Three laps later, Truesdail
made his move to retake the lead as he looked under Forster as
they raced to turn one and he led to the KING Design
Halfway Award on lap 50 over Forster, Dennis Frates, Jeff Rogers and Keith Joseph.
The
race's third caution came out on lap 60 for a single car spin involving
Mike House. House had been running strong in the sixth
position and looked to have cut a right rear tire as he spun and backed
his Mike's Auto Sales Chevrolet hard into the turn two SAFER Barrier.
Fortunately, Mike was okay and gave a wave after receiving a loud cheer
from the fans.
Truesdail's crew got another chance to show their championship form as the Fastech
Motorsports team got their driver in and out of pit road without losing
the lead after another round of pit stops.
The green flag waved
again on lap 66 with Truesdail leading over Chris Forster, Dennis
Frates, Keith Joseph and Jeff Rogers.
The fourth and final
caution of the night came on lap 78 again for Mike House after he spun
in nearly the same spot in turn two as he did just 18 laps earlier.
House was done for the night after a second hard hit to the turn two
wall and ended his night in the infield care center.
The entire
field hit pit road for the last time and clicked off lap 80 as they
crossed the stripe. Chris Forster's XtraMart team would get a small
victory in winning the race off pit road after taking just two tires,
but True Value/Dart officials declared that he was too fast entering
pit road, which handed the lead back to Zach Truesdail and sent Forster to the tail end of the longest line.
The
fourth and final restart came on lap 84 with Zach Truesdail leading
over Dennis Frates, Keith Joseph, Tony Hanbury and Jeff Rogers.
Truesdail
quietly pulled away and would win over Dennis Frates, Keith Joseph,
Chris Forster and Rick Dutra. Sixth through tenth were Tony Hanbury,
Mike House and Jeff Rogers.
With his victory at Richmond, Zach
Truesdail wins the 2008 True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series Spring Season championship by 54 points over
Tony Hanbury, Keith Joseph, Dennis Frates and Rick Dutra.

Richie Coy dominates the Lee Brice 150 presented by Curb Records at Music City! - By Charli Brown
Richie
Coy continues to dominate the Whelen Modified Online Tour with his
fifth straight win in the Lee Brice 150 presented by Curb Records,
Wednesday night at the Music City Motorplex.
Nashville, TN - Haskell,
New Jersey's Richie Coy is rewriting the record books in the
SIModified.com Online Racing Leagues' Whelen Modified Online Tour. Coy
took home his fifth straight win Wednesday night in the Lee Brice 150
presented by Curb Records at the Music City Motorplex in Nashville,
Tennessee.
He's also keeping his name in the spotlight by winning his sixth straight Coors Light Pole Award with a lap time of 19.600
seconds at 109.469 mph.
Coy led the field to the green flag with Rick Dutra to his outside and
would get the jump heading into turn one. Third place starter Charli
Brown would get under Dutra heading into turn one and follow Coy to the
second position as the leaders raced down the back straightaway.
The
first caution of the night came early and flew on lap 8 when race
leader Richie Coy made a rare mistake and spun his Stewart's Root Beer
Ford out of the lead as he raced off turn four to complete the eighth
lap. As Coy's car came to rest against the inside concrete wall, Charli
Brown led the field to the caution flag.
Brown
headed to pit road for the first round of pit stops while Michael
Pares, Jr. stayed out to lead a lap and collect five bonus
points. Brown and his NOS Energy Drink team won the race off pit
road ahead of Chris Rogers and Jeff Rogers.
The
race's first restart came on lap 13 with Charli Brown leading over Chris Rogers, Jeff
Rogers, Rick Dutra, Michael Pares, Jr. and Richie Coy. Brown led the
next five laps before spinning in nearly the same spot as Coy did to
bring out the race's second caution on lap 18 and hand the lead to
Chris Rogers.
Chris Rogers, Michael Pares, Jr. and Jeff Rogers
would stay out under this caution while the rest of the field hit pit
road for service with Richie Coy winning the race off pit road ahead of Rick Dutra
and Charli Brown.
Rogers led the field to the race's second
restart on lap 23 over Michael Pares, Jr., Jeff Rogers, Richie Coy and
Rick Dutra and held the top spot until the race's third caution
on lap 26 for Jeff Rogers spinning in turn one.
Chris
Rogers, Michael Pares, Jr., and Rick Dutra would stay out while Richie
Coy, Charli Brown and Jeff Rogers headed to pit road. Coy again
was first off of the cars that pitted as Chris Rogers led the field to
the race's third restart on lap 32.
The race's fourth and final
caution flew just five laps later on lap 37 for Charli Brown as he spun
while trying the high groove in turn three. Brown would suffer
driveshaft damage and retire his machine behind the pit wall while the
rest of the leaders stayed out behind the Chevrolet pace car.
Rogers
continued to lead to the race's fourth restart on lap 42 over Michael
Pares, Jr., Richie Coy, Rick Dutra and Jeff Rogers.
Coy began
his march back to the front with an inside move on Michael Pares, Jr.
for the second spot as the two raced to turn one on lap 52. It would
only take him another two laps to make his bid for the lead as he dove
under Chris Rogers as they raced off turn four to complete lap 54.
Richie Coy led to the Mends Image Halfway Lap over Chris Rogers, Michael Pares, Jr., Jeff Rogers and Rick Dutra.
Green
flag pit stops would soon be the order of the day and Michael Pares, Jr.
pitted his TAS Country Homes Chevrolet from the third positon on lap 84
and was the first of the leaders to hit pit road.
Rick Dutra was
next to try and hit pit road on lap 85, but missed the pit entrance and had to carefully make his way around to pit on lap 86,
costing him valuable time lost to the leader and the fifth position.
Race
leader Richie Coy and second place Chris Rogers pitted together on lap
92, leaving Jeff Rogers as the last car on the lead lap that had not
stopped for service.
Jeff Rogers would lead lap 93 while on pit
road making his final stop of the race as Richie Coy flashed by the
Start/Finish line to retake the lead. Michael Pares, Jr. would be
scored second after the round of pit stops with Chris Rogers third,
Jeff Rogers fourth and Rick Dutra fifth.
Richie Coy would lap
the third place car of Chris Rogers with 25 laps to go and lead the
rest of the way with only Michael Pares, Jr. as the only other car on
the lead lap. Chris Rogers would come home third, followed
by Rick Dutra and Jeff Rogers.
This
week, the Whelen Modified Online Tour heads to the Stafford Motor
Speedway for "The Greatest Race in the History of Spring," the CarQuest
Tech-Net Spring Sizzler and the final race of the Spring Season.

Matt Riley wins at Waterford while Phil Jacques wins the Spring Season championship. - By Charli Brown
Matt
Riley won the season finale for the Sunoco SK/SST Modified Series
presented by NPGPro.com Tuesday night at the Waterford Speedbowl.
Waterford, CT - Matt Riley made a "one-off" appearance in the Sunoco SK/SST Modified Series presented by NPGPro.com at the Waterford Speedbowl Tuesday night and led wire to wire for his first SIModified.com Online Racing Leagues win.
Riley
was dialing in a new car he was preparing for the Summer Season of
racing in the True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series and won the
Earthscapes.cc Pole Award with a lap time of 14.411 seconds at 93.678
mph.
While Riley was worried about working the bugs out of his
new car, Sunoco SK/SST Modified Series presented by NPGPro.com DRI Standings
leader Bobby Ambroceo had other things on his mind. After a rough race
at Jennerstown the week before, the rest of the field had closed the
gap and the championship based on the new Driver's Rating Index
was up for grabs.
Unfortunately, Ambroceo's luck had not changed from the previous week. While racing
underneath Scott Aldrich for the second spot as the field completed lap number two, the two made
contact coming off the fourth turn sending Aldrich into a spin in front
of the whole field while Ambroceo would lose more valuable DRI points.
Matt Riley continued to lead to the lap 8 restart over Steve Rohner, Jr., Joe Szot, Ed Battaglia and Ryan Curran.
The
race's second catuion quickly came back out as eighth place driver
Jeremy Smith made contact with Rick Underwood as the two raced to turn
one on the restart. Underwood would spin as a result of the contact and collect
Fred Hill and John Reach.
On the lap 14 restart, Riley continued to hold the lead until the
race's third caution on lap 19 for Bobby Ambroceo and Scott Aldrich
meeting again as the two raced for the ninth and tenth positons off
turn four. This incident would end Ambroceo's night and his shot at the
Spring Season championship while Aldrich continued on.
At
the Mends Image Halfway Lap, Matt Riley continued to hold the top spot
over Steve Rohner, Jr., Joe Szot, Ed Battaglia and Phil Jacques. But just
two laps later both Ed Battaglia and Phil Jacques would spin down the front
stretch and out of the top five to bring out the race's fourth caution
on lap 27.
The green would wave again on lap 32 with Matt Riley continuing to lead
over Steve Rohner, Jr., Joe Szot, Fred Hill and Ryan Curran but the caution would
quickly come back out two laps later for a two car incident in turn
three between Rick Underwood and Jeremy Smith. This incident also
collected Steve Rogers, who drove away with no damage.
The
race's final restart came on lap 40 with Steve Rohner, Jr. making his
bid for the lead on Matt Riley as the two leaders raced to turn one.
Rohner, Jr. misjudged the corner and ended up high in the turn two
marbles losing his chance at the win, while also losing several
positions in the process.
Matt Riley would hold on to the lead and cruise to the win over Joe Szot,
Ryan Curran, Stanton Skelton and Steve Rogers. Sixth through tenth were
Rick Underwood, Steve Rohner, Jr., Fred Hill, Scott Aldrich and John
Reach.
Phil Jacques was disqualified from the fourth finishing
position in the final rundown for not answering a penalty for being
involved in the lap 27 caution with Ed Battaglia but would still come
home with the highest Driver's Rating Index point total earning him the
2008 Sunoco SK/SST Modified Series presented by NPGPro.com Spring Season
championship.
Jacques' final score of 1.51 would beat Steve
Rogers' total of 1.37 over the eight race schedule. This is Jacques'
first SIModified.com Online Racing Leagues championship. Ed
Battaglia finished third in the final standings with a 1.33 over
Bobby Ambroceo and Joe Szot.
