SIModified announces adjustments to the 2008 Summer Season schedule.
Charlotte, NC - After
a successful Spring Season and a year of experience under their belts,
management of SIModified.com and the SIModified.com Online Racing
Leagues have decided to make some changes for the 2008 Summer Season.
First
and foremost, these changes are in effect strictly for the Summer
Season of league racing. Once the leagues complete the Summer Season,
management will evaluate the changes and decide whether or not to
finish out the 2008 calendar of events with the changes in effect.
The
Sunoco SK/SST Modified Series presented by NPGPro.com has undergone the
most changes since its inception and this summer will be no different.
Any and ALL new drivers wishing to register and compete in the SIModfied.com Online Racing Leagues will race in this division.
Changes for the 2008 Sunoco SK/SST Modified Series presented by NPGPro.com are as follows:
A. There will be NO points or DRI (Driver's Rating Index) for the Summer Season of racing.
B.
The SK/SST division will be open to all drivers who wish to learn and
race with us without the pressure of point racing or DRI Evaluation.
C.
Drivers will send in a registration request as normal, and all events
will be monitored for fairness and compliance with the league rules.
D.
No Summer Season champion will be crowned and the format will be much
like a "weekly fun series" of events for drivers in this division.
Next
up is the Whelen Modified Online Tour. When this division was created,
the idea behind the Whelen Modified Online Tour was to combine the
schedules of both the Whelen Modified Tour North and South divisions.
Sadly, car count for this division has been disappointing since the
beginning and the 2008 Summer Season may be its last. We hope
this revised format will revitalize the division and allow it to
continue.
Changes for the Whelen Modified Online Tour are as follows:
A. The schedule will fall into a bi-weekly schedule of events for a total of four races.
B.
All Whelen Modified Online Tour events for the Summer Season will be
200 laps. Officials saw the support and enthusiasm for the Jennerstown
350 earlier in the year and want to try and run four "Big Events" for
the Whelen cars throughout the Summer.
C.
The four tracks the Whelen Modified Online Tour will visit are: New
Hampshire Motor Speedway, Iowa Speedway, Bowman Gray Stadium for the
Advance Auto Parts 199, and finally Martinsville Speedway for the
Whelen "Made in America" 300.
D.
Current drivers MAY run Whelen Modified Online Tour events and True
Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series events in the Summer Season.
Eligibility is at the discretion of SIModified.com Online Racing League
officials.
Finally, the True Value/Dart Machinery Modified
Series has had the most drivers and support and has become the marquee
division in the SIModified.com Online Racing Leagues.
The
True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series will continue its eight race
schedule throughout the Summer Season and will not go through any major
changes except for the addition of a few new tracks to the schedule.
Those tracks will include Thunder Road Speedbowl and the Beech Ridge
Motor Speedway. Both of these tracks hosted True Value Modified Racing
Series events in 2008. In addition, a new venue has been added in
Langley Field Speedway. This track hosted a S.M.A.R.T. Modified Tour
event just a few years ago.
General Information for all Leagues:
Registration
will be open beginning this weekend. A brand new set of Summer
Season contingency decals will be available to competitors as well.
Drivers who have entered and competed in at least 50 percent of the
Spring Season events for which they registered will have first choice
to renew their car number.
League Carfiles will be a requirement this season!
Many
drivers raced in our spring season leagues without a proper carfile
available to everyone. If a car file is not submitted or if a
driver enters the race server without a carfile, the driver will be
asked to leave. This rule will be strictly enforced this summer.
In
closing, we thank every driver who has raced with us in our leagues,
past and present. The leagues and the website have had record numbers
of visits and support from all the major modified touring series and
teams. We would also like to thank everyone who helps make these
leagues possible! Your support has been unbelievable and is
appreciated by all.
Summer is a busy time for everyone and
staying inside to race online is not as popular as in the colder
months. We have adjusted our schedules to reflect this and we hope to
see you either continue on in our "shortened" Summer Season, or return
for our Fall Season to finish out the 2008 calendar of events.
Thank you, The Management of SIModified.com
