Chuck Darling "Three-Peats" at Spencer Speedway! - By Charli Brown

Chuck Darling let everybody know that Spencer Speedway is "his house" after his third straight win in the Don Pratt Memorial 100 presented by Monroe Extinguisher, Thursday night.

Williamson, NY - Some drivers just have a knack for doing well at a particular racetrack. Saginaw, Michigan's Chuck Darling proved that to be true when he won his third straight race at the Spencer Speedway Thursday night in the Don Pratt Memorial 100 presented by Monroe Extinguisher.

Whelen Modified Online Tour invader JD Laird was making his first start in the True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series and broke the track qualifying record with a lap time of 20.784 seconds at 86.605 miles per hour to win the Dart Heads Pole Award. Chuck Darling was second quick and would start outside of Laird on the front row.

At the drop of the green flag, the front row ran side by side for the first two laps before JD Laird finally cleared Chuck Darling's machine as the two raced off turn two and down the backstretch. Chris Forster was third, followed by Charli Brown and Chris O'Shell.

The first caution for contact came on lap 33 for Tony Hanbury getting into the back of Chris O'Shell in turn three. Under this caution, JD Laird stayed out behind the Chevrolet pace car while the rest of the leaders headed to pit road for service.

Chuck Darling's Howe Racing Products team got him off pit road first and back into second spot followed by Charli Brown, Chris Forster, Zach Truesdail and Jeff Rogers. Brown would lose the third spot after SIModified.com officials caught him speeding entering pit road, sending him to the tail of the longest line.

JD Laird led the field to the restart on lap 40 over Chuck Darling, Chris Forster, Zach Truesdail and Jeff Rogers. Sixth through tenth were Steve Rohner, Jr., Jeff Marble, Scott Aldrich, Justin Bonsignore and Mike House.

Steve Rohner, Jr. would get into the back of Jeff Rogers while the two were racing for the fifth spot to bring out the race's fourth caution on lap 42. The rest of the field took evasive action as Rogers backed his Rooms Unlimited machine into the infield and headed in the right direction.

Laird headed to pit road under this caution, handing the lead to Chuck Darling. Steve Rohner, Jr., Charli Brown and Jeff Marble also pitted for service under this caution.

Darling led to the restart on lap 48 but the caution would quickly come back out a lap later for Chris O'Shell getting into the back of JD Laird, causing a chain reaction incident with Rich Warden as they raced to turn one. Warden was spun up on to the grassy area separating the first turn pits are from the racing surface, while Laird's car was facing traffic while sitting at the top of turn one.

Chuck Darling led to the KING Design Halfway Award at lap 50 over Chris Forster, Zach Truesdail, Scott Aldrich and Justin Bonsignore. Sixth through tenth were Rick Dutra, Dennis Frates, Tony Hanbury, Mike House and Jeff Rogers.

The race's fifth restart came on lap 55 with Chuck Darling continuing to show the way. Zach Truesdail muscled his way past Chris Forster for the second spot on lap 56 as the two raced in turns one and two.

Darling led the next 24 laps until the race's eighth caution came on lap 79 for two separate incidents that happened at the same time. Jeff Marble was working under Chris O'Shell for the seventh spot in turn two and the two tangled nerf bars sending O'Shell sideways and into a half spin. As that was going on, Jeff Rogers got into the back of Rick Dutra in turn one sending Dutra's Francis Farm Clambakes machine up into the grass at the top of turns one and two.

Darling survived two more restarts to hold off Zach Truesdail for his third straight Spencer Speedway victory. Truesdail came home second followed by Chris Forster, JD Laird and Charli Brown. Sixth through tenth were Dennis Frates, Chris O'Shell, Scott Aldrich, Rick Dutra and Jeff Rogers.

Next week, the True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series heads to Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine for the Maine-ly Action Sports 100. Charli Brown is the defending champion of the event.

Brown also leads the True Value/Dart Machinery Modified Series Summer Season point standings by 28 points over 2008 Spring Season champion, Zach Truesdail. Jeff Marble, Chris O'Shell and Tony Hanbury round out the top five.
