Zach Truesdail wins the Pocono CAM2 Race of Champions 200! - by Charli Brown


Zach Truesdail holds off Justin Bonsignore to win the Pocono CAM2 Race of Champions 200.

Long Pond, PA - Owego, New York's Zach Truesdail held off a last lap challenge from Justin Bonsignore and PJ Stergios to win the Pocono CAM2 Race of Champions 200 at the Pocono International Raceway's 3/4 mile oval Thursday night to close out the 2007 True Value/Race of Champions Modified Series.

Twenty cars took the green flag after Richard Davidowitz set the new Pocono 3/4 track record with a lap time of 24.887 seconds for an average speed of 108.490 MPH. Timmy Solomito was second fastest and would start from the outside pole. Drivers gave the historic rebuilt track rave reviews and everyone looks forward to returning to Pocono for the 2008 season.

SIModified.com officials confirmed that the series would return to the fast 3/4 mile oval in 2008 as part of a new "Race of Champions" series that will re-visit many of the same venues that hosted the RoC in years past including Langhorne, Flemington, Pocono and Trenton.

The race would see 16 lead changes among 9 different drivers with Richard Davidowitz winning the Moroso Performance Most Laps Led Award by leading 67 of the scheduled 200 laps.

Chris O'Shell would come home fifth in his EARLE asphalt Ford Mustang and wrap up his first SIModified.com True Value/Race of Champions Modified Series championship for the fall season while Charli Brown would win the 2007 overall title over Richie Coy.

With his win Thursday night, Zach Truesdail secured the 2007 SIModified.com Rookie of the Year Award.
